When I started blogging there were a ton of bloggers who were ready to show you how to start a blog and monetize it. Since I was new to the game I didn’t know who to follow. I noticed one blogger was constantly posting about making money as a blogger. I figured this person should know what they’re talking about, right? Wrong!
The only thing they blogged about was how placing an ad on your website could earn you some serious bucks. That might have been the case many years ago when the internet first took the world by storm but it sure isn’t like that anymore.
I didn’t take me long to realize I was following the wrong people. When I found the right bloggers to follow, I learned there was a lot more to blogging than placing an ad on our website.
It’s about knowing your target audience and what they need. It’s why they go to your blog in the first place. But if all you’re going to do is place an ad on your site, your visitors won’t be sticking around.
Your visitors want to know more about the product or service we’re promoting or selling. They want to know why you’re using it, how has it solved your problem and if it will solve a problem of their own. Readers want to know about the highs and lows in your blogging journey, how you go there and how you overcame obstacles. They’re no longer clicking on those banner ads like they used to.
So if you want to blog right, you’ve got to learn from the boss bloggers who show you how to grow your blog.
Boss Bloggers You Should Be Following Now
Earlier this week I published a post about how to blog like a boss and introduced my new eBook for new bloggers who want to be recognized as an expert in their niche and blog like a boss. The eBook is a collection of the things I learned in the last five years of blogging.
But I didn’t learn it on my own. I connected with some of the most kick a** bloggers out there today. Some have gone on to bigger and better things but what they taught me will have a lasting impression on me for as long as I blog.
I don’t want what happened to me happen to you so I thought I’d put a list of boss bloggers you should be following now. The first list are the bloggers I followed when I started my journey followed by bloggers I’m digging and learning from today.
The Sensational Six
Here are the six bloggers I’ve been following the past five years. These ladies taught me everything I know about blogging. I will always be grateful to these gems.
Harleena was one of the first bloggers I connected with when I started blogging. She is known in the blogging community as the commenting queen. Her blog posts receives over 20 comments, sometimes more!
She taught me how to engage with visitors, monetize your blog, improve your writing technique and connect with other bloggers. She created the Aha!Now Blog Community (ABC) made up of members who are bloggers and non-bloggers dedicated to helping others.
Adrienne Smith is known throughout the blogging community as the comment queen. She is all about engaging and building relationships through comments. Not only does she share her tips with us on how to build our own community and become a commenting superstar, she offers other advice for bloggers such as how to write great content that will attract readers and how to succeed as a blogger.
She’s also an awesome blogging coach – yes even seasoned bloggers should have a blog coach. We’ve had a couple of sessions and I love how easy going she is. She listens to what I have to say and gives me feedback and suggestions.
Adrienne has since gone on to bigger and better things but I can tell you that she is sorely missed in the blogging world.
I think Brenda and I started blogging about the same time. Not only is she one of my favorite bloggers but she has become one of my dearest friends. Brenda taught me not to be afraid to be me and to tell it like it is. She shares blogging tips on her blog Brenda Pace plus she also offers a variety of services such as web design and custom headers.
Brenda recently launched another blog called PibblesNMe dedicated to her love of pitbulls or more affectionately called, pibbles. Her other blog, A Splash of Cray is for women and men who dare to enter – who are looking for a fun place to vent out the problems and celebrate the joys of being a woman.
I’ve been following Donna Merrill for five years now. Marketing is an important part of blogging and Donna knows all about this area. Her tagline is “blogging and online marketing…made simple and that’s exactly how she delivers it to us. Her content makes it easy for us to understand social media, SEO, email and content marketing and her tips are easy to implement.
She’s one of the best blogging coaches out there so if you’re looking for a coach to help you improve your blogging skills, she is the one to contact.
Lisa was one of the first bloggers I connected with on Twitter when I joined the platform. If you don’t know who Lisa is, she is know as the Twitter queen because she’s always in the know when it comes to Twitter’s latest updates. She also shows you how to drive traffic to your blog using social media as well as SEO and blogging tips.
Sylviane showed me how to blog. When I first started blogging, my blog posts were stuffy and by that I mean professional in tone. It’s no wonder I wasn’t getting any responses. She taught me how to use my voice and to be myself. She also shows you how your mindset plays a major part in whether or not you’re successful.
She also a successful life coach, so if you’re looking for a coach to improve your writing skill, contact Sylviane.
