Summer is officially here! And along with the sunny days, blue skies and warm waters, also comes the feeling of freedom and adventure.
So I researched a few unique summer activities you could try with your family or friends. From adventure seekers to water lovers, I hope that you will find something that’s fun for you in the list that I put together.
Go down a huge waterslide
And when I say huge, I mean 1000 feet (or 300 meters) long!
Slide the city is a company that brings 1000 feet of inflated vinyl to city streets. They organize a 1-2 day event that also includes live music, entertainment, and local vendors.
Check out the locations on their website and see if they are coming to a city near you. It seems like an amazing way to awaken your inner child and have some fun in the sun in the middle of the city.
Spend a few days in a tree-house hotel, in the middle of nature
The smell of the forest, the amazing view, and the peaceful surroundings are just a few of the reasons why you might love the idea of spending your vacation in a tree-house. Plus, if you have children, you can offer them an unforgettable experience.
Here is an article about the world’s coolest tree-houses, where you can find amazing examples and architectures from all over the world. And here are some magical spher tree houses that you can find in Canada, on Vancouver Island.
Try a Farm Stay / Agritourism
We should all be more aware of the source of our food, especially for those of us who were born and grew up in a big city. Speaking for myself, living in a city sometimes makes me feel disconnected from the process of growing the food that nourishes us.
Here is where the farm stays come to help us. It’s about spending your vacation on a working farm, where you can observe and even participate in the day-to-day farm chores.
In the US you can find a farm stay at www.farmstayus.com. For Canada, you can check these 10 Canadian Farms. There are also pleny of options in Europe, where these types of holidays are more popular. You can look for options for your desired destinations in Europe here.
Look at the stars
While Earth is a wonderful place, the silent beauty of the stars always surrounds our nights.
And while if you live in a city the light pollution might not allow you to admire the night sky, there are some special places where you can take in all the stars your eyes can see. Because there is no better place where you can disconnect from daily problems than under a sky full of stars.

Visit an entirely handmade, ecological amusement park
I know that probably only a few of you would have plans to visit Italy this summer. However, I mostly included the Osteria ai Pioppi park because I was rather in awe of it when I recently stumbled upon this ideo.
This is an amusement park built by one man in a forest in Northern Italy, entirely by hand. It is fuelled by the laws of nature, human movement, and clever engineering only. Therefore, you will find no motors or any trace of electrical power.
The inventor’s name is Bruno Ferrin and he has no formal engineering education. He is only inspired by the movements of nature and he has spent nearly a lifetime building this park.
Check out this 2-minute story to learn about the park’s story and to see some of the rides in action.
Over to you
