If you’ve been following my blog or social media, you will know by now that I don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen. The less I have to be in there the better. And nope, I don’t feel guilty when we’re having takeout for dinner either. I know I’m not up for the mom of the year award but that’s just me being too tired to cook and do dishes and no longer feeling guilty if I don’t.
It’s not that I don’t know how or like to cook. It’s just that I get tired of making the same ole thing. I do enjoying cooking but I go for easy peasy dishes like my mom’s easy chicken mole recipe I shared with you a couple of weeks ago.
I don’t know if you do this but when I can’t think of anything to cook I’m thinking of recipes. And I don’t want to get on Pinterest because I’ll lose track of time and dinner really won’t be cooked up. Well ladies, the time has come because there is a place that has plenty of options and it cuts prep and cook time in half!
I received an email from Maria. She runs a ready-to-cook dinner kit startup company called Maria’s Gourmet Kitchen here in the Houston area. I didn’t know we had such a thing. Anyway, she invited me try one of her ready-to-cook gourmet dinner kits in exchange for sharing my thoughts about it with you.
I tell yah, she had me at ready-to-cook but I wanted to check out her website before I agreed. There were so many mouth-watering dishes to choose from like Chicken Fried Chicken, Salmon Teriyaki and Beef & Pepper Stir Fry. I finally decided on the Salisbury Steaks and Mashed Potatoes.
The dinner kit was delivered in a cooler bag and chilled on ice so that it was extra fresh. The meal included four good-sized Salisbury Steaks and a side of Mashed Potatoes to serve a family of four.
All I had to do was put the ingredients together and cook the steaks according to the instructions. I reheated the mashed potatoes in the oven for 30 minutes and violà, dinner was ready in less than an hour!
Here’s a slideshow to show you how quick it is to prepare and serve!
And here is a video that goes into more detail about how it works.
Aside from the food being good, the prices are ridiculously affordable! Depending on the meal you order there is no dinner kit that costs more than $17. And for four servings that is a real money saver!
