If you enjoyed last month’s blog tip of the month you are in for a real treat this month. While I was learning about the importance of engaging with you my dear reader, I was learning how to be a better blogger from Donna Merrill. With posts like Learn To Blog The Right Way, her tips were very helpful.
And now she’s stopping by and sharing this month’s blog tip of the month. So let me get out of the way and introduce the one, the fabulous Donna Merrill.
Tell us a little about you and your blog.
Hi Corina, It is a pleasure to be on your blog!
I started blogging about 4 years ago. The main reason I set up my blog was to inspire my off line clients that they too can blog and obtain financial freedom, or to build a reliable blogging business as a side venture that could help them to pay their bills. I believe everyone has a unique talent and what better way to use it than to share and showcase it on a blog, for all the world to see.
Because I’ve been an entrepreneur for many years, I do know how business is. It takes time and persistence to grow, but most of all patience. I’ve built an off line personal consulting business, an antique business, and also had my share with flipping houses and renting them. All of which were passions of mine.
But now I’m am purely focused on blogging and internet marketing. I love it because it gives me a platform for lending a hand to other people and helping them with their business. There is no better feeling than that! Yes, I monetize my blog, and other online strategies, but I get the most pleasure from working with others and seeing their growth and results. It is why we are on this planet …to help others. That’s my take on life, and on blogging.
What is the one advice you have for bloggers?
My best advice for bloggers is to work closely with those who have had blogging success.
You can’t do this alone. It makes no sense to waste hours, weeks and months of your time trying to understand and accomplish things that have already been figured out.
Find the people who have figured them out and learn from them. If you’re really serious about this business, get coaching as soon as you can.
People waste so much time and money trying to figure things out piecemeal, but I can tell you from experience… the tide turns when you hire a coach to show you the way.
I don’t know hardly anybody, myself included, who has had any real blogging success by skipping this critical step.
If you are a blogger that wants to earn profits from your efforts, you need to treat your blog like a business. It all starts there.
Let people know you are out there, of course.
- Write the best content you can.
- Join blogging communities and tribes.
- Go reach out to other bloggers and leave fabulous comments and shares on social media.
- Treat anyone that comes to your blog like gold.
- Engage with them not only on your blog but on social sites too.
- Blogging takes time, especially if you want to monetize it.
- You need to be constantly learning to be an effective blogger, plus you have to learn many marketing techniques.
All of these things are essential, but without a bigger game plan, it will be extremely difficult to build your blog into a profitable business. And without getting some individual help for your unique blog and goals, it will be extremely difficult to develop the strategies you need to make your game plan work.
It all takes time and patience. That’s why I always emphasize the importance of patience. When building a business with your blog, you need to have a plan and patiently implement it until you start seeing the results you want.
Don’t get distracted by shiny objects. Remember there is no such thing as get rich quick! Unless you won the lottery lol. If you develop a sound plan, then implement it diligently and consistently, the results will follow.
Do you have a product that can help bloggers who are just starting out or even for the seasoned one who might need a refresher?
I sure do Corina:
For people who want to know pretty much everything they have to do in order to build a successful blog that attracts a steady stream of visitors, check out Blogging Magic. It’s my video training course that literally walks you through every step you need to follow, starting with getting a blog (for beginners) right through some of the most advanced traffic and conversion strategies that many of the big bloggers don’t even understand.

I also have my own coaching program. It’s called the Whirlwind Success “VIP Club”. I call it a dynamic coaching program because I add live training all the time, but also take real time Q&A once a week, and make myself available to members whenever they have an immediate obstacle to overcome. Maybe they have to figure out how to put a video on their Facebook page, or need to know if there’s a WordPress plugin to help them build an optin box on their blog site. Anything at all, anytime at all, members of the VIP Club have access to me for expert advice and a dose of compassionate hand-holding.
