There are major brands out there that just by looking at their logo you instantly recognize who they are and what product is associated with their company. Heck, their commerical jingle may even pop in your head and before you know it, you’re humming along to it.
This is the same kind of reaction you want visitors to get when they see your logo. I’m sure you know by now how important it is to brand your blog if you want it to be recognized as an official online business.
Brand Your Blog or Homebased Business Starts With a Logo
You’re probably already making plans for your blog or business for the New Year. If you want to grow your blog or business, part of those plans should include branding with a logo.
By placing a logo on your website, blog, newsletters, on social media profiles and even in an email signature you are constantly promoting your blog or business. The more your logo is visible, the more people will associate it with the name of said blog or business.
The goal of a logo should be making a lasting impression when people see it. And when designing a logo be sure to put time in the creative process and remember to:
- Use the same color scheme as you have on a blog, social media, or newsletter.
- Be unique
- Be simply designed
- Keep text short, sweet and to the point.
Create Your Own Logo
For some of us, having a logo designed by a professional is not in the cards. Sometimes it’s even pushed to the back burner because we assume it would cost too much for a professional design.
But did you know you there is an online tool you can use to design your own custom logo?
I found out there’s an online tool called Online Logo Maker that lets us create a professional logo design without needing any techie skills. And forget about worrying whether you can fit this in your budget because this tool is absolutely free. For those of us who are on a tight budget, that is what you would call winning!
You already know I wasted no time creating my account. I was given instant access to the online tool and it didn’t take me long to become familiar with the dashboard.
Here’s a screenshot of what the dashboard looks like:
If you will look on the left hand side of the dashboard in the screenshot above, you’ll notice there options are to add symbols, upload your own image and add customized text like a name and tagline. When you’re done you can easily download it to your computer.
There are also features to customize a logo with different font styles and colors and you can modify a logo by adding shadows and you can adjust the size to your preference.
If you still need a little help, they have a resource box on the bottom right of the dashboard that has tutorials to help you get started as well as a blog roll filled with helpful posts.
I had a chance to try it and here is what my first draft looks like. Pretty cool, right? I got the logo from Online Logo Maker’s graphics and edited with my own fonts. What do you think?
