Ringing in a New Year is always marked with resolutions to do better than the year before. Let me guess, your New Year’s Resolution is to lose weight…again. I know it’s on my list!
How do we stick to our new year’s resolution to lose weight? What are we going to do this time that will help us stick with it all year long? Especially when we tend to slow down as the months go by.
Well, today, I have some suggestions for you. These have helped me to keep working at staying healthy and fit even when I don’t feel like it!
Calculate Your Calories Burned
Do you know how many calories you burn in a day? I have been using the Nike Fuel Band to keep track of calories burned and I love it! I just check it during the day and see if I need to get my butt up and move.
Be A Gym Rat
I love hitting the gym but if you’re not big on the gym there are plenty of things you can do at home to burn calories. Ladies you may not like this, but even household chores can burn lots of calories ;).
I love a great workout DVD and I love my Rebounder. It’s a little trampoline that you jump on almost like jogging and can burn lots of calories. Throw on some weighted gloves and you’ve got a great workout going.
You can also try doing leg lifts, push-ups or sit-ups during the commercials while watching your favorite show on TV. Your family may think you’re crazy but you will start to burn calories and look fitter!
Don’t Succumb To Your Cravings
You want to stick to a healthy diet at least 80% of the time. But if you find yourself ready to surrender to your cravings remember how eating that greasy fried food made you feel sick and lazy the last time you ate it. So next time you want a cheeseburger you will go for something healthier instead.
When you’re craving sweets go for a piece of fruit with its natural sugars like strawberries. If the cravings get really bad try calling a friend to distract you. Turn up the music and dance!
Keeping healthy food and snacks at home and avoiding taking home junk foods altogether is a sure fire way to make sure you don’t fall off the diet wagon.
You’ve Got To Have Consistency
We all know consistency is the key to anything! You have to do it every day even when you don’t feel like it. I should say especially on the days you don’t feel like it. Make it a point to eat healthy, drink plenty of water and do some kind of exercise…and do it every day!
If you can do it alone, get an accountability partner and keep each other on track. I know you can do this. Actually in 2014 you WILL do it and you will look and feel better than you ever have!
