Updated: July 1, 2017
When I first published this post, it was back in September 2014. That’s a long time ago, right? And it also occurred to me that that’s how long I’ve been using Hootsuite.
Hootsuite has made some changes since this post was published so I wanted to catch you up on their latest and greatest features!
You know as bloggers we have a lot of responsibilities. Besides writing content, we have to share it, share other blogger’s content and engage on social media. That’s just to name a few of ’em.
And if you don’t have a virtual assistant to help with the work load, it all falls on you.
When I worked in Corporate America one of their favorite catchphrases was “work smarter not harder.” And with all that there is to do to run a successful blog, we kinda have to live by that catchphrase, right?
When you’re blog is a business you want to make sure your brand is always visible on social media. But we can’t expect be sitting in front of the computer all day.
And there will be days when life gets in the way and blogging has to take a back seat. Been there, done that my friend!
I Love Me Some Hootsuite Pro!
Like I mentioned in the beginning of this post, I’ve been using Hootsuite Pro for a while now. If there is a tool to keep me on top of my blogging responsibilities, it’s this one.
But I did give other tools a try like but they just didn’t offer all the features that Hootsuite Pro did.
Like being able to connect up to ten social media profiles, pages and groups. That was the first feature that got my attention. I had all my profiles and groups on one dashboard.
I could see my posts, updates, likes, comments, mentions, retweets and even messages!
There is an autoschedule feature so your posts can be published during the best time throughout the day. This way you’ll reach your audience on different times zones and in other parts of the world!
The bulk composer was another featured that grabbed my attention. Since I was posting coupons three times a week back then, this feature was a real time saver!
If you still use RSS feeds you can connect as many feeds as you’d like so you don’t miss any of your favorite blogger’s posts.
You can post to your Instagram account but there is a process to do it.
First, you’ll need to download the Hootsuite app on your smartphone.
When you post to Instagram via Hootsuite, you’ll get a notification on the Hootsuite app.
Open the message you’ll get the option to post to Instagram.
Continue the steps to crop and update your image. Add your message and bam, you’re done. It’s awesome!
And you can also add team members and get in-depth analytics reports sent to your inbox.
Even More Features
Since I last wrote about this Hootsuite Pro has added some awesome features.
Check this out…
Now you can connect your Tailwind account. You no longer have to open a separate window to pull up your Tailwind calendar or to see your scheduled pins. And you can get content suggestions to schedule to Tailwind right there on the dashboard.
Back then, Hootsuite also had a section for suggested content based on your selected topics. Well, they have improved that feature big time!
I just found out they integrated with PromoRepublic. Now Hootsuite users have access to 100,000 post templates and images you can create right from your dashboard!
The Social Media Hat goes into detail about it and shows us how to create visual posts with PromoRebublic on a post they wrote called New on Hootsuite: Visual Content Discovery and Creation App Is Live.
WordPress users are going to love this. You can add your WordPress blog to the Hootsuite dashboard. Just go to the App directory, install it and login to WordPress to configure the settings.
I was going to show you how but I’m getting an XML-RPC enabled error. If you have problems connecting your blog to Hootsuite, click here to get common errors and fixes.
You can also connect the Blogger app to monitor your blog, create pages and posts and view comments.
There is also a StumbleUpon app so you can view and search for relative content right from the dashboard.
And Constant Contact and Mailchimp users can install apps to view campaign results, share campaigns on social media.
Here’s one more for you…Commun.it useres can manager their social media communities, grow your followers and know who to follow or unfollow and what content to tweet.
